Your new role looks like this 

 

Reporting to the Employee Wellbeing and Safety Lead, you will partner with leaders and teams to lift safety and wellbeing outcomes across Australian Unity. This is a practical, risk based role that focuses on coaching and continuous improvement, while supporting compliance with WHS legislation and our internal standards. 

You will work across multiple business units, building strong relationships and influencing day to day decision making so safety accountabilities and due diligence are embedded in how work is planned and delivered. 

 

 

Key accountabilities include 

 

  • Business partnering and capability 

 

  • Coach leaders and teams to embed WHS responsibilities into everyday decisions 

 

  • Provide advice on WHS risk management, consultation and worker participation 

 

  • Support WHS planning, objectives and annual safety improvement plans 

 

  • Incident management 

 

  • Support incident response, investigations and corrective actions with a focus on root cause and prevention 

 

  • Assist with wellbeing and safety reporting, data analysis and trend insights 

 

  • Support leaders with regulatory interactions when required 

 

  • Help implement auditing approaches that support continuous improvement and workers compensation self insurance 

 

  • Coach on hazard identification, risk assessments and development of safe work practices 

 

  • Support effective controls using the hierarchy of controls 

 

  • Assist business areas to manage psychosocial and physical risks aligned to their risk profile 

 

  • Identify and champion wellbeing and safety initiatives to address risk 

 

  • Contribute to enterprise projects, procedures, tools and improvements to the safety management system 

 

  • Promote a positive safety culture and strengthen safety leadership behaviours across the enterprise 

 

 

About you 

 

  • Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety or a related discipline (required) 

 

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in workplace health and safety or a similar WHS partnering role 

 

  • Current valid driver’s license and ability to travel across sites as required 

 

  • Strong working knowledge of WHS legislation, risk management and safety systems 

 

  • Experience partnering with leaders in a complex, multi site environment, with outcomes delivered through influence 

 

  • Experience in aged care and community care is desirable 

 

  • Confidence facilitating discussions, coaching leaders and engaging employees and representatives 

 

  • Able to analyse safety data and translate trends into practical actions 

 

  • Organised and pragmatic, able to manage competing priorities and stakeholder expectations 

 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
