Our Opportunity:
Reporting to the Workplace Relations Practice Lead, you will be responsible for the effective case management of employee grievances/claims, workplace investigations, conduct and performance issues and (in conjunction with the Employee Care and Claims team) the management of ill and injured employees. You will provide guidance and actively support people leaders in responding to these matters as well as the interpretation of, and compliance with, employment legislation, industrial instruments, employment contracts and policy.
You may also be required, with appropriate guidance, to represent Australian Unity in the Fair Work Commission in relation to unfair dismissal/general protections applications or similar matters.
Key accountabilities include:
- Individual case management, effectively guiding and supporting people leaders in the appropriate management of / responding to cases involving misconduct, performance, grievances, ill and injured employees.
- Supporting workplace investigations into workplace misconduct, generally under the supervision of a senior member of the workplace relations team.
- Supporting the representation of Australian Unity in the Fair Work Commission or similar tribunals under instruction by a senior member of the workplace relations team.
- Engaging with union or legal representatives
- Providing accurate and appropriate advice to people leaders regarding the interpretation of key legislative obligations, modern awards, Australian Unity enterprise agreements, employment contracts and policies
About You:
To be successful in the role you will be able to demonstrate the following experience:
- Previous experience in a workplace/employee relations role or a broader human resources role
- Employee relations case management experience in a large organization across multiple different industries.
- Sound analytical and judgement skills
- The ability to influence and coach People Leaders
- The ability to deal with ambiguity and to respond flexibly to change as needed
