The Opportunity

 

We are seeking a highly capable and motivated Tax Manager – Compliance to lead our tax compliance and assurance program across a diversified group operating in multiple sectors, including financial services, health, aged care and property.

 

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a complex environment, enjoys developing people, and is passionate about modernising tax processes through technology, automation and data‑driven improvement.

 

 

What You’ll Be Doing

 

Compliance & Reporting

  • Lead the delivery of income tax, GST, FBT and BAS compliance obligations within legislated timeframes.
  • Review and approve tax workpapers, calculations and reconciliations across the Group.
  • Oversee the Group’s tax agent software to support tax lodgement workflows.

 

Tax Effect Accounting

  • Manage the preparation of tax effect accounting, including deferred tax balances, journals and statutory disclosures.
  • Partner with Group Finance to ensure high‑quality tax reporting at month‑end and year‑end.

 

Technology, Data & Continuous Improvement

  • Own the tax technology landscape, including account sensitisation, software administration and compliance‑related system updates.
  • Lead automation and digital improvement initiatives (AI‑enabled efficiencies, data integrity, workflow optimisation).

 

Stakeholder Management & Assurance

  • Partner with Finance, Legal and business units to provide clear, practical tax advice.
  • Support ATO assurance reviews and external audit queries.
  • Build capability within a small, high‑performing tax team.

About you

 

You are an analytical, proactive tax professional with experience managing complex compliance and reporting obligations. You enjoy improving processes, using data to solve problems, and helping stakeholders understand tax in a clear, accessible way.

 

You will bring:

 

  • Degree in Accounting, Commerce or related field.
  • CA/CPA qualification.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian income tax, GST and FBT legislation.
  • Experience in tax effect accounting and consolidations.
  • Hands‑on experience managing BAS programs and monthly lodgements.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the confidence to lead discussions.
  • Experience with automation tools or digital tax workflows (advantageous).
  • Previous team leadership or mentoring experience (desirable but not essential).
