Our Opportunity:

 

We currently have an 18-month fixed term opportunity for a Tax Accountant to join our Tax Compliance & Assurance team within Finance & Strategy.  This role has a key focus and responsibility ensuring the organisation achieves and maintains accuracy in its reporting of tax obligations, including Income Tax, FBT and GST.  The role will also encompass different taxes and areas of finance – including tax effect accounting.

 

Responsibilities include:

 

  • Supporting the Tax Manager in ensuring that compliance obligations are met within legislated timeframes i.e. income tax returns, business/instalment activity statements and fringe benefits tax returns for the AU group.
  • Preparation and review of the income tax return supporting workpapers for entities within the Australian Unity tax consolidated group (TCG) and stand-alone entities outside the TCG.
  • Assisting with the review of tax fixed asset registers.
  • Maintaining the tax reporting software used for the Group’s direct and indirect taxation obligations, including managing the tax sensitisation of chart of accounts.
  • Assisting the Senior Tax Manager – Assurance and Deputy Head of Tax with documentation of AUL’s tax policies and processes and systems in line with AUL’s Group Tax Risk Management Framework.
  • Supporting the Tax Manager in the management of income tax expense and effective tax rate of the Australian Unity Group.

 

About You:

 

To be successful in role you will have the following:

 

  • Experience in tax effect accounting is essential
  • Deep functional knowledge around financial systems and processes
  • Strong stakeholder management with the ability to engage and influence outcomes
  • Degree qualified with a minimum of four years’ experience in working in a Business Services / Corporate Environment
  • TIA, CA or CPA membership
  • Strong and proven experience through working in taxation across the whole Australian tax system including Income Tax, AASB 112, and to a lesser extent the interaction of direct tax with GST and FBT
