The Opportunity
The Senior Risk and Compliance Manager, Insurances is a senior second line accountability role, responsible for the provision of expert, independent and commercially minded risk and compliance advice and services to the Insurances platform. The role leads the day-to-day delivery of risk and compliance management activities, ensuring effective implementation, oversight and continuous improvement of organisational risk and compliance frameworks.
What You’ll Be Doing
Risk & Compliance Management and Advice
- Provide expert, independent and commercially-minded risk and compliance advice to all levels of the business, influencing informed decision making and compliance with regulatory obligations.
- Implement and optimise Insurance’s risk and compliance frameworks, policies, and processes across Insurances
- Coordinate and run second line risk and compliance monitoring, controls assurance and reporting activities, including analysis of trends, emerging risks, and systemic issues.
- Manage and oversee the identification, investigation, escalation, and resolution of incidents, ensuring timely remediation and sustainable outcomes.
- Identify gaps in risk and compliance processes, procedures and risk culture, and drive improvement initiatives to address gaps.
- Collaborate and liaise with colleagues, including Group Risk and Compliance, the Insurances Legal Team, and Internal Audit, to share knowledge and improve business outcomes.
- Provide persuasive input into submissions to regulators in relation to relevant law reforms and proposed changes to government policy.
- Lead the development of practical, user focused risk and compliance tools, guidance, and training to uplift first line capability and accountability.
Effective Governance and data-let insight management
- Be an active participant in key business unit governance forums, providing independent risk insight, challenge, and support to the business to safely meet its strategic objectives.
- Challenge and support the business to utilise compliance and risk information and reporting to make business decisions based on increased understanding of key risks, reflecting on insights provided by independent assurance activities, key trends, and emerging issues.
You will bring:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications with a minimum of 6 years of experience in risk, compliance, or audit related discipline.
- Experience in health insurance, general insurance, financial service industries or other highly regulated industries.
- A strong working knowledge of the legal and regulatory frameworks in connection with the Insurances businesses.
- Exceptional stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to influence others and gain support for relevant initiatives
