Your New Role Looks Like This:

 

As a Senior Manager, Group Accounting Policy, you’ll report to the Deputy Head of Statutory Reporting and play a critical role in delivering expert IFRS accounting advice to senior Finance leaders, the Audit Committee, and external auditors. You’ll work at the forefront of major M&A, restructuring, financing, and business improvement initiatives, ensuring that our accounting policies are not only compliant but also commercially sound.

 

During peak reporting periods, you’ll join forces with the statutory reporting team to prepare accurate, compliant, and insightful financial statements.

 

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Advice: Collaborate with project teams on acquisitions, divestments, restructuring, and tactical  initiatives, providing technical accounting solutions that optimize outcomes while identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Technical Analysis: Deliver detailed IFRS evaluations, ensuring technical advice is robustly documented and aligned with audit expectations.
  • Efficiency Gains: Identify and implement opportunities to streamline the corporate structure, enhancing operational efficiency and minimizing capital requirements.
  • Trusted Advisor: Provide timely, clear, and actionable technical accounting advice across the Group, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and internal policies.
  • Knowledge Leadership: Develop and deliver technical accounting training to enhance the expertise of our finance community.
  • Quality Policy Development: Shape and refine accounting policies, ensuring they are both compliant and commercially practical, in consultation with the Audit Committee and external auditors.
  • Standards Monitoring: Stay ahead of changes in Australian and international accounting standards, assessing their potential impact on the business.
  • Peak Period Support: Contribute to the preparation of statutory financial reports, ensuring full compliance with the Corporations Act and relevant accounting standards.
  • Relationship Building: Strengthen trust and credibility with external auditors by providing persuasive, well-supported technical accounting positions.

 

 

 

About You:

 

  • Full professional accounting accreditation mandatory
  • Detailed experience    and understanding of accounting standards, the Corporations Act and ASIC, APRA and ASX requirements as they apply to Australian statutory financial reporting
  • Sound business acumen and deep understanding of financial controls and processes with proven experience in dealing with complex commercial and financial reporting issues
  • Deep commercial experience with emphasis on industries in which the Group operates
  • Experience in managing a broad range of stakeholders from Management (and Board) through to technical experts in accounting and finance
  • Advanced Excel skills and computer literate in a range of financial software and accounting packages
