As part of the Group Legal function, you’ll provide commercially-minded legal, governance, and risk management advice while working closely with senior leaders across Finance & Strategy, Technology, People & Culture, Brand & Marketing, and other key functions. What you’ll do:
- Lead Major Initiatives: As trusted legal adviser, provide commercially-focused legal advice and manage high-profile projects, from capital markets transactions to acquisitions, divestments, technology procurement and workplace compliance.
- Build Best Practice: Autonomously manage a variety of contract negotiations, including major technology and professional services, and strive for excellence in governance, ensuring alignment with Australian Unity’s strategic objectives.
- Make Impact: Partner with senior leaders to embed the Community & Social Value outcomes that truly matter, into decisions and activities of the Group.
- Influence Strategic Decisions: Provide strategic legal and governance advice to senior executives across a diverse range of legal matters. Work closely with risk and compliance teams to deliver excellent outcomes and cohesive strategies.
- Shape Legal Innovation: Lead the charge on leveraging technology to streamline processes and deliver cutting-edge inhouse legal services.
- Champion Culture: Foster Australian Unity’s culture and values, demonstrating leadership and resilience in a dynamic business environment.
This is a 12-month fixed-term contract – a chance to take on a rewarding role where your legal expertise will be truly valued.
About You:
- Generalist inhouse lawyer with 7–10 years of experience (PQE).
- A solid understanding of legislation and regulatory compliance as it applies to general commercial functions, with the ability to simplify complexity and advise at a strategic level.
- Experience in APRA-regulated and/or ASX-listed environments is desirable.
- A strong commitment to professional ethics and integrity, combined with excellent communication and leadership skills.
- A forward-thinker who embraces innovation, collaboration, and teamwork.
