As a Senior Internal Auditor, you’ll take the lead in safeguarding this mission—helping us build resilient, compliant, and efficient systems across our home health and aged care operations.

What You’ll Be Doing:
- Lead and execute end-to-end internal audits, from planning and risk assessment through to reporting and follow-up, using Australian Unity’s Group Audit methodology.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls, governance frameworks, and risk management processes with a sharp eye for improvement opportunities.
- Deliver high-quality, actionable insights that influence decision-making across key parts of the business.
- Support continuous compliance with aged care standards, legislation, and organisational policies.
- Stay attuned to industry and regulatory changes, new technologies, and IT risk to ensure audit relevance and impact.
- Present audit findings with clarity and confidence to senior leaders, highlighting key themes, root causes, and practical recommendations.
- Review and challenge management action plans, ensuring they are robust, achievable, and value-adding.
- Guide and support junior auditors, contributing to a high-performing, collaborative team culture.
- Build strong, professional relationships with stakeholders to foster trust and drive change beyond the audit cycle.
- Maintain your own continuous professional development to remain at the forefront of internal audit best practice
About You:
- Minimum five years of internal auditing experience (external audit experience from a Big 4 environment will also be considered)
- Eligibility in professional accounting bodies (i.e., CAANZ, CPA Australia and IIA) and a commitment to continuing professional development
- Tech-savvy and appreciation of IT risks in a computer-driven economy and rapid technology changes in areas of IT security and access, and general application controls. An appreciation and understanding of data analytics / mining would be beneficial
- Well-developed and effective communication skills including a high standard of business report writing
- Understanding and application of financial principles and grasp of business concepts
- Ability to work autonomously and within defined methodologies and timeframes
- Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio. TeamMate and ACL advantageous.
- High standard of professionalism, objectivity, ethics, confidentiality, and discretion
- Self-starter with strong time management and organisational skills
- Strong business acumen, with a pragmatic approach and ‘bigger picture’ mindset
