About the Opportunity:
The Senior Frontend Developer will work as part of a wider cross-functional team to deliver the best possible digital experiences for our customers and members. They will oversee and manage other front-end developers to ensure best practice development standards and adherence to AU digital standards, policies and procedures
They will be responsible for providing the technical leadership in the creation, evaluation and iteration of the user interface for Australian Unity digital experiences, leading to increased usage of, and conversion, via digital channels. They will work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders to drive acquisitions and service outcomes in line with business objectives. It’s a fast-paced environment where people are collaborative, driven and enthusiastic.
Key accountabilities include:
Building Relationships and providing technical leadership
- Establish strong relationships with peers, wider team members, project teams and business stakeholders
- Lead technical proofs of concept to make known the unknown, demonstrate technical value to the business and help ensure the timely delivery of technical projects
- Assist technical leads and the business in providing accurate estimates to support business cases
- Build and manage relationships with technical and application vendors, providing technical direction and instruction
- Be instrumental in the move to a headless SaaS approach and environment across our core platforms and applications
Maintain, design, develop, test and deploy suitable frontend solutions
- Plan, prototype and build appropriate solutions that are scalable and reusable - ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs
- Take ownership of the UI and influence the overall look and feel of new and existing digital applications / providing direction for build and implementation.
- Implement designs and apply/manage them in accordance with existing CMS component frameworks (multiple), ensuring adherence to internal and best practice guidelines and standards
- Ensure all FED development is optimised for maximum speed and scalability.
- Write functional and screenshot tests to validate work. Test and re-factor code across browsers using BrowserStack

- Ensure all FED outputs comply with WCAG 2.0 AA Accessibility standards, making it a priority for our customers

- Define, deliver and continue to enhance the business unit’s customer value proposition, including research and insights
About You:
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent + minimum 8+ years commercial software development experience
- Significant hands-on experience designing and implementing fit for purpose solutions in WCMS and/or Sitecore (v9.x or above) – specifically building and maintaining components and frameworks in line with Sitecore Professional services standards. In 2027, we will be moving to a Headless framework, so you will be at the start of the journey and put your mark on how we evolve and mature our development
- 8+ years of JavaScript (preferably ES6 experience) - based front-end development
- Demonstrated experience in understanding design patterns as well as working knowledge of documentation, coding testing and developing using multiple development languages and multiple languages
- Have a passion for elegant, simple and innovative solution with an excellent portfolio of solutions across a spectrum of devices and services.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and time management skills
