About the Opportunity:
Join our Wealth & Capital Markets team as a Risk Assurance & Insights Manager.
This second-line, business-aligned role is responsible for leading independent control assurance, risk insights and risk appetite oversight across the W&CM platform. You’ll assess the design and operating effectiveness of key controls, identifying and monitoring of KRIs/KCIs and help ensure risks and controls are clearly understood, independently assessed and transparently reported.
You’ll also support the Head of Risk & Compliance, W&CM with governance of conflicts of interest, ensuring conflicts are identified, assessed and managed in line with regulatory and internal requirements. Through your insights, assurance activity and stakeholder engagement, you’ll support effective governance, regulatory compliance and continued uplift of the control environment across W&CM.
In this role, you will:
- Lead the design and execution of Independent Control Testing across Wealth & Capital Markets
- Assess the design and operating effectiveness of key controls
- Identify control weaknesses, systemic issues and thematic risk trends
- Oversee the application of the Risk Appetite Framework across W&CM
- Develop, monitor and provide insight on KRIs, KCIs and risk appetite metrics
- Analyse risk data, incidents, complaints and operational metrics to identify emerging risks
- Deliver clear and insightful reporting to management, committees and Board forums
- Support the governance and oversight of conflicts of interest
- Provide independent second-line challenge and assurance across the business
- Partner with stakeholders to support uplift in control maturity, governance and risk culture
About You:
You’re an experienced risk, compliance, audit or assurance professional with strong analytical capability and the confidence to independently assess control environments. You bring sound judgement, critical thinking and the ability to provide constructive challenge, while partnering effectively with stakeholders across a complex financial services environment.
You’ll be comfortable working with control testing, assurance frameworks, risk appetite metrics, KRIs/KCIs and risk reporting, with the ability to translate complex data and risk information into clear insights and practical recommendations. Your background may include experience across funds management, insurance or broader financial services, ideally within a second-line risk or audit environment.
You will bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in commerce, finance, risk or a related discipline
- 8+ years’ experience in risk, compliance, audit or assurance roles
- Strong experience in control testing, assurance, internal audit or independent control review
- Experience assessing control design and operating effectiveness
- Strong understanding of risk frameworks, control environments and governance practices
- Experience working with risk appetite frameworks, KRIs, KCIs and risk metrics
- The ability to analyse data, identify trends and generate meaningful risk insights
- Exposure to funds management, insurance or broader financial services environments
- Knowledge of APRA Standards, Corporations Act and AFSL obligations
- Experience with Managed Investment Schemes will be highly regarded
- Strong stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills
- The confidence to provide independent challenge and support uplift in risk and control maturity
