Your New Role Looks Like This:

 

 

Join Australian Unity as a Risk and Compliance Manager within our Wealth and Capital Markets (W&CM) division, where you’ll play a pivotal role in fostering a strong risk culture, aligning compliance strategies with business objectives, and driving innovative solutions to support our strategic growth, primarily within the funds management team.

 

You’ll oversee the application of Australian Unity’s compliance and risk frameworks within W&CM, ensuring our business thrives while managing risks effectively. You’ll provide expert advice, oversight, and independent monitoring while building a robust risk and compliance culture across the division.

 

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Champion Risk Awareness: Develop and deliver programs to enhance business understanding of risk management frameworks, linking risk appetite, control assessments, and incident management to measurable outcomes.
  • Advise Senior Leaders: Act as a trusted advisor to executives and senior leaders, integrating risk and compliance into strategic decision-making and business planning.
  • Strengthen Controls: Lead the design and execution of monitoring programs to assess key controls, foster continuous improvement, and ensure timely identification of control failures through self-assessments and independent testing.
  • Navigate Regulatory Change: Stay ahead of regulatory developments, assess their potential impact, and ensure seamless integration into risk profiles, tolerance levels, and business operations.
  • Support Audits: Collaborate with internal and external auditors to deliver seamless compliance and licensee audits, ensuring operational excellence and adherence to compliance plans.
  • Shape Governance: Actively participate in governance forums, providing independent insights and fostering a risk-aware culture that aligns with strategic objectives.
  • Drive Strategic Risk Management: Offer forward-looking perspectives on emerging risks and market trends, equipping the business to respond effectively to a dynamic regulatory landscape.

 

Please note that this role is a fixed term contract opportunity, ending in May 2026

 

 About You:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications with a minimum of 6 years of experience in risk, compliance, product management, investment management or audit related discipline is required.
  • Industry experience relevant to Australian Unity’s business portfolio (funds management)
  • A strong working knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework surrounding the Wealth & Capital Markets business as well as the financial services industry.
  • Experience of leading and influencing through change and working agilely in complex environments.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management, communication and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others and gain support for relevant initiatives
