Our Opportunity

 

The Risk and Compliance Manager, Home Health & Residential Aged Care will manage and influence the application of Australian Unity’s compliance and risk frameworks within the business platforms through the provision of high quality, proactive and commercial risk and compliance services as well as providing advice that supports delivery of the businesses’ strategy.

 

The role is accountable for providing oversight, independent monitoring and advice on risk management and compliance and for fostering the development of mature risk and compliance capability and culture within the businesses.  

 

What you will do

 

Lead, influence and execute the enterprise risk management framework to effectively support the business manage their risks and obligations

 

  • Implement strengthened and clearly articulated risk and compliance practices consistent with the enterprise-wide risk governance framework for the businesses, including identification of compliance obligations and appropriate controls.
  • Lead and implement a program to increase business awareness of the risk management and compliance frameworks.
  • Through influencing skills, provide expert advice to our Home Health & Residential Aged Care Executive General Manager’s and General Manager’s and their teams in relation to risk and compliance and its relationship to business strategy.
  • Manage a monitoring program to assess the effectiveness of key controls (Independent Control Testing – ICTs) and influence the business to implement its own ongoing monitoring program (using QC, QA practices and Control Self Assessments (CSAs).
  • Liaise and assist external and internal auditors in the performance of all relevant compliance plan audits, licensee audits and compliance process and procedure audits.
  • Provide oversight and challenge of key business activities including M&A proposals, new and changed products, systems, processes and business relationships by working with 1st Line and Platform management to support the assessment of applicability of compliance obligations, the level of risks and appropriate responses (processes, controls, treatments etc)

 

Provide leadership to promote a strong culture of compliance and early identification and management of risk

 

  • Provide a forward-looking lens across the macro regulatory environment and assess the impact of regulatory changes and emerging risks
  • Actively review the policy and legislative environment impacting the businesses, to identify potential changes that could impact the business strategy and operations and ensure these are incorporated into risk profile, tolerance levels, business decision making and planning.
  • Support business leaders to complete a gap analysis for implementing regulatory change including development and monitoring of action plans

 

Effective Governance and data led insight management

 

  • Be an active participant in key business unit governance forums, providing independent risk insight, leadership challenge and influence and support the business to safely meet its strategic objectives.
  • Challenge and support the business to utilise compliance and risk information and reporting to make business decisions based on increased understanding of key risks, reflecting on insights provided by independent assurance activities, key trends and emerging issues.


About you

 

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (or equivalent experience) with a minimum of five years post-graduate experience in a risk, compliance or audit related role
  • A knowledge of the risk management and compliance / regulatory framework applicable to Australian Unity’s businesses
  • Industry experience and/or working knowledge of Aged Care or health services legal and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience of leading and influencing through change and working agilely in complex environments.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others and gain support for relevant initiatives
