Our Opportunity:
Australian Unity have an exciting opportunity for a Quality Engineering Practice Lead. You will be responsible for leading and managing the testing and quality assurance practices. The primary objective of this role is to ensure the delivery of high-quality software and products that meet stakeholder expectations and comply with industry standards. The Quality Engineering Practice Lead will be tasked with developing and implementing effective testing strategies and optimizing testing processes to achieve efficient and reliable outcomes. This role plays a critical part in driving continuous improvement, promoting collaboration, and fostering a culture of quality across group technology and the organization.
This position is a critical role to support the technology model where practices sit both in Business Platform and within the Group Technology teams.
Accountabilities include:
- Practice Management: Use the subject matter experts and working groups to ensure the tools are configured to support the needs of the teams, also managing licence deployment across appropriate tools
- Strategy & Visionary: Establish and continuously refine the long-term quality engineering strategy, roadmap and operating models across the delivery and operations teams. Support the development planning lifecycle to feed into business case development, product build, implementation and run processes to ensure planned and executed with the right skilled resources.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with Technology Leaders (Group and Platform) to build a collaborative environment to indirectly lead teams and build a culture of collaboration.
- Automation and Tooling: Own the strategy for all automated testing frameworks, tools and environments, ensuring scalability, efficiency and maintainability
- Testing Management: Develop and implement practice strategies across testing, engineering, and implementation teams, ensuring adherence to established testing processes and methodologies. Additionally, provide inputs into audit findings identified and help support teams with appropriate management response actions
- Culture and Capability uplift: Drive the cultural shift from a siloed QA function to a team-based ownership model where Developers and Quality engineers co-create quality
- Measurement and Continuous Improvement: Define and track key quality engineering metrics that provides transparency on and product and process health, driving data-informed decisions
About You:
To be successful in the role you will be able to demonstrate the following capabilities / experience:
- Relevant tertiary and post graduate qualifications preferred. Successful completion
of a relevant post-graduate qualification would be highly regarded. - 8+ years of experience in Quality is essential, with a min of 3-5 yrs of experience in Quality Engineering
- Demonstrated experience in establishing or leading a Quality Engineering practice or Team. Additional experience in Project Management would be well regarded
- Proven experience in defining and selling a Quality Engineering strategy and roadmap
- Deep expertise in designing scalable, enterprise grade Test automation frameworks
- Additional experience/exposure in testing and deploying applications to cloud environments, understand the concept of CI/CD and pipelines by embedding quality gates
- Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills to translate technical risks into business impact
- Experience establishing and reporting on key Quality Engineering metrics
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
- Ability to build and maintain strong client and vendor relationships
- Excellent interpersonal, influencer and relationship management skills.
