As a social enterprise, we’re motivated by our purpose to positively impact the wellbeing of millions. We reinvest profits to deliver products and services sustainably that matter most to our members, customers and the Australian community.

For us, Real Wellbeing encompasses the whole experience of life. It’s about feeling supported in your health, connected with your community and empowered to live life on your terms.

Your New Role Looks Like This:

At Australian Unity, we’re committed to real wellbeing — for our members, customers, and communities. As we continue to innovate and grow, we’re looking for an experienced IT Audit Manager to join our Internal Audit team and help us strengthen our technology governance, risk management, and control environment.

This is your opportunity to be a trusted advisor and play a key part in shaping how we manage risk across evolving digital landscapes, emerging technologies, and cybersecurity challenges.

You’ll lead and deliver high-impact audits across our technology environments, providing critical insights into system, data, and infrastructure risks. Working collaboratively with IT, cybersecurity, and business leaders, you’ll assess the design and effectiveness of controls, support integrated audit initiatives, and help ensure our IT operations align with strategic objectives.

You’ll also play a key leadership role within the Internal Audit function — mentoring team members, promoting innovation, and contributing to continuous improvement across our audit approach.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Shape the annual IT audit plan using a risk-based lens that aligns with business priorities, technology strategy, and emerging cyber threats.
  • Stay ahead of trends in digital transformation, cyber risk, and IT innovation, and reflect these insights in audit execution.
  • Lead and deliver end-to-end IT audits — including cybersecurity reviews, infrastructure assessments, and third-party/vendor risk.
  • Evaluate IT general controls (ITGCs), access management, automated controls, and key system configurations.
  • Partner with operational auditors to deliver integrated audits that assess business process and IT risks holistically.
  • Apply relevant frameworks and regulations (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001) to ensure compliance and best practice governance.
  • Leverage data analytics and audit tools to enhance audit efficiency, insight generation, and issue identification.
  • Prepare clear, pragmatic audit reports with actionable recommendations for stakeholders at all levels.
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with IT leaders, business units, risk partners, and external auditors.
  • Lead and coach internal auditors and specialists, fostering technical growth and excellence in execution.
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives within Internal Audit — including automation, innovation, and continuous auditing.

About You:

  • Proven experience (6-8 years) in leading complex IT audits, ideally in regulated or financial services environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Deep knowledge of IT risks, cybersecurity, infrastructure, data management, and cloud technologies.
  • Familiarity with relevant control frameworks (e.g., COBIT, NIST, ISO 27001) and regulations.
  • Experience managing and mentoring audit professionals.
  • Strong communication skills and stakeholder management capability, including influencing senior leaders.
  • A curious mindset, keen eye for detail, and passion for continuous improvement.

What’s on Offer:
