Your New Role Looks Like This:
Join our Home Health (HH) Governance team at Australian Unity, where you’ll provide high-quality, commercially focused legal advice that supports our mission to deliver exceptional care to older Australians.
As Legal Counsel, you’ll play a key role in navigating complex regulatory, operational, and compliance matters, ensuring our business remains aligned with strategic and commercial objectives. Key Responsibilities Include:
- Provide clear, timely, and pragmatic legal advice across a wide range of matters affecting the HH business.
- Guide the implementation of compliance and governance strategies for approved aged care providers.
- Support responses to regulatory inquiries and dispute resolution processes.
- Work closely with stakeholders to balance legal risk with business objectives, ensuring seamless operations.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, including service agreements, procurement deals, IT contracts, and leases.
- Assess and advise on legal risks associated with transactions and acquisitions.
- Assist with property and asset management issues, ensuring smooth leasing and procurement processes.
- Manage and resolve claims, disputes, and litigation to protect Australian Unity’s interests.
- Stay ahead of regulatory changes and provide strategic insights to enhance legal and operational processes.
- Support the Head of Legal and General Manager of Legal, Risk, Compliance & Quality Assurance on key legal projects
About You:
- Tertiary qualifications in law
- 4-6 or more years of relevant experience in private practice or an in-house legal function
- Admission as a legal practitioner to the Supreme Court of an Australian State or Territory
- Current practicing certificate
- A sound understanding of legislative and compliance requirements and their application and effect upon business operations
- Aged care, litigation and dispute resolution experience will be highly valued
- Strong commitment to finding the best solutions for business outcomes
- Excellent project management, writing and presentation skills
- Initiative, enthusiasm, teamwork and an ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment
