The Opportunity

 

The Head of Engineering Home Health is responsible for leading the engineering and digitisation capability that enables Australian Unity's Home Health business to continuously evolve, optimise and scale its technology ecosystem. Reporting to the Human Services Chief Technology Officer the role will lead the transition from a large-scale transformation program to a business-aligned Connected Care operating model focused on operational excellence, platform reliability and continuous value delivery.

 

The Head of Engineering will establish and lead a modern engineering organisation responsible for the ongoing operation, enhancement and optimisation of the Home Health technology landscape, with Salesforce Health Cloud and associated digital platforms at its core. Working in close partnership with Home Health Product Management, Experience Design and Data teams, the role ensures business priorities can be translated into secure, scalable and sustainable technology solutions that improve customer outcomes, employee experiences and operational performance.

 

The role is accountable for maintaining service excellence across the Home Health platform ecosystem while driving continuous digitisation, automation, data enablement and AI-powered innovation.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Engineering Leadership & Service Excellence:  Lead the engineering capability responsible for the stability, reliability, security and performance of the Home Health technology ecosystem. Accountable for:

  • Platform availability and resilience.
  • Production support and operational excellence.
  • Engineering governance and standards.
  • Release and environment management.
  • Technology risk management.
  • Service performance and reliability.
  • Technology lifecycle management.

 

Digitisation & Process Transformation: Lead the digitisation of Home Health operations through technology, automation and workflow optimisation. Key areas include:

  • Customer onboarding and care management processes.
  • Scheduling and workforce optimisation.
  • Service delivery workflows.
  • Care review and offboarding processes.
  • Workflow digitisation and simplification.
  • Business process automation.
  • Reduction of manual and duplicate activities.
  • Success will be measured through improved efficiency, customer outcomes and employee experience.

 

Continuous Improvement & Platform Evolution: Establish engineering practices that enable technology products and services to evolve continuously. Responsibilities include:

  • Delivery of prioritised feature enhancements.
  • Management of technical debt.
  • Performance optimisation.
  • Platform modernisation.
  • Continuous delivery and deployment practices (DevSecOps).
  • Adoption of new platform capabilities.
  • The focus is on ensuring Home Health platforms continually improve while maintaining operational stability and security.

 

Salesforce Engineering Leadership: Provide strategic leadership for the Home Health Technology ecosystem, including:

  • Health Cloud
  • Data Cloud
  • Agentforce
  • Dynamics 365
  • Web Methods
  • Enabling services
  • Services Australia integration

Ensure the platform remains scalable, secure and aligned to evolving business requirements.

 

Data & AI Enablement: Partner with Product Management and Data teams to enable the responsible use of data and artificial intelligence across the Home Health ecosystem. Drive technology capabilities that enable:

  • Better operational decision-making.
  • Improved service coordination.
  • Customer insights and personalisation.
  • Workforce productivity improvements.
  • AI-assisted employee experiences.
  • AI-enabled engineering practices.

They bring deep expertise within the Salesforce ecosystem and have successfully delivered large-scale digital transformation, platform modernisation and automation initiatives in complex environments. Recognised for driving operational excellence, they foster resilient, secure and reliable technology platforms while championing continuous improvement and innovation.

A strategic business partner, they are able to translate organisational goals into technology outcomes, balancing long-term vision with pragmatic execution. Equally focused on customer and employee experiences, they lead with a service mindset, creating scalable solutions that enhance engagement, efficiency and value.

This individual is an influential leader who inspires high-performing teams, promotes a culture of accountability and innovation, and successfully balances stability, governance and risk management with the need to evolve and modernise technology capabilities.

 

 

You will bring:

 

  • 10+ years' experience leading engineering, digital or technology functions, including 5+ years in senior leadership roles in highly matrixed, complex human services / healthcare / aged care environments.
  • Proven success leading large-scale technology transformation and transitioning organisations from project delivery to product-led, continuous improvement operating models.
  • Experience building and leading engineering teams responsible for platform reliability, service excellence and the ongoing delivery of business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to digitise and simplify complex operational processes through modern platforms, automation and workflow optimisation.
  • Proven track record partnering with Product, Business and Data leaders to deliver measurable customer, employee and operational outcomes.

 

 

Technical Expertise

  • Deep expertise in Salesforce and enterprise platforms, with experience delivering and evolving customer and operational capabilities at scale.
  • Strong understanding of modern engineering practices, including platform operations, DevSecOps, continuous delivery and service reliability.  Shift towards forward deployment over time.
  • Experience applying automation, workflow orchestration and digital technologies to improve operational efficiency and service delivery.
  • Knowledge of data, analytics and AI capabilities, with the ability to translate emerging technologies into practical business outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise integration, cloud technologies, security and reliability engineering within complex technology ecosystems.
