Your New Role Looks Like This:
Australian Unity is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Control Manager to join our Group Finance & Strategy team. This leadership role will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of financial performance reporting across the Platforms, while driving financial controls and contributing to our finance transformation agenda.
As Financial Control Manager, you will collaborate closely with the Commercial Finance & Strategy team, as well as other Group Finance teams, to ensure seamless integration of financial reporting frameworks that meet the strategic needs of the business. Your leadership will inspire excellence within your immediate direct reports (team of 5 financial accountants) and across the broader Finance community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver Accurate Financial Reporting: Ensure the accurate and timely preparation of monthly financial results, providing insightful commentary on P&L and balance sheet performance for the Human Services Platforms (Aged Care and Home Health).
- Support Budgeting & Forecasting: Oversee the input of budgets and forecasts for the Platforms, working closely with the Commercial Finance team to align financial planning with business needs.
- Regulatory Reporting: Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual regulatory reports in collaboration with the Commercial Finance team, ensuring compliance with industry requirements.
- Manage Adjustments & Controls: Supervise the posting of adjustment journals, including accruals, provisions, and revaluations, while driving continuous improvement in processes related to revenue and expense recognition.
- Ensure Data Integrity: Oversee the reconciliation of financial data from underlying business systems to the general ledger, with a focus on maintaining accurate, revenue-related ledger accounts.
- Audit Collaboration: Liaise effectively with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders to ensure alignment in reporting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
- Leadership & Risk Management: Lead a team of 5 financial accountants that will report directly into you. Manage people processes oversee risk management frameworks, and ensure effective resource allocation, including managing FTE budgets.
About You:
- CA/CPA Qualified
- Minimum 8 years financial and management accounting experience
- Previous leadership experience
- Strong experience in system processes, variance analysis, reconciliations, issue resolution and process improvement
- Strong experience in budgeting and forecasting
- Advanced excel skills and computer literate in a range of financial software and accounting packages (e.g. TM1, SUN, Blackline)
- Ability to adapt to change and work methodically while under pressure
