About the Role:

 

Reporting to the Head of Finance – AU Life, you’ll bring strong actuarial expertise in life insurance, including APRA regulatory reporting and capital adequacy assessment, while delivering insights across modelling, capital and management reporting.

 

The role also offers exposure to strategic initiatives, product design and investment decision making, making it ideal for actuaries ready to broaden their scope and impact.

 

Please note: This is not a traditional accounting or month‑end role. It is best suited to candidates with actuarial or life insurance experience who are looking to expand into a broader capital, prudential and strategy‑oriented role.

 

Key Responsibilities include:

 

  • Support delivery of management, Board and regulatory reporting, including quarterly and annual APRA submissions (LRS/LRF), ensuring accurate data collation, validation and timely delivery
  • Contribute to capital management activities, including review of solvency and regulatory capital calculations
  • Assist in preparation of ICAAP updates, recovery planning and capital monitoring frameworks, including stress testing and scenario analysis
  • Conduct financial modelling, investment analysis and feasibility assessments to inform strategic and product‑related decisions
  • Collaborate on strategic partnerships, white‑label opportunities and product design initiatives
  • Prepare budgeting and forecasting inputs, providing valuable insights for financial planning and business performance
  • Partner with the appointed actuary and external actuarial vendors, supporting effective oversight of outsourced actuarial services
  • Identify and implement opportunities to enhance processes, models and reporting frameworks

 

 

About You:

 

  • Experience within life insurance or actuarial environments, ideally with exposure to APRA reporting (LRS/LRF)
  • Strong understanding of capital adequacy, ICAAP, solvency or regulatory frameworks
  • Tertiary qualifications in Actuarial Studies, Financial Management, Financial Analysis, Business or a related discipline
  • Progress toward actuarial qualification (or actuarial exposure) highly regarded
  • Strong analytical and modelling capability (Excel/VBA or similar), with the ability to interpret complex data and translate insights into meaningful recommendations
  • Comfortable working across both technical and stakeholder‑facing environments, including finance, actuarial and business teams
  • A proactive mindset, with an interest in improving processes, frameworks and ways of working
  • Exposure to funds management, investments or asset management is desirable
