Our Opportunity:
The Data Product Owner is responsible to lead the development, delivery and continuous improvement of data-driven solutions leveraging data to define and drive the business strategy, roadmap, and execution in form of strategic data projects that can empower Australian Unity’s business decisions, customer experiences, operational efficiency.
Working closely with cross-functional teams such as data engineering, data science, business stakeholders, and other product teams this role translates business needs into product features and collaborates with stakeholders to prioritize backlog. You will develop and deliver valuable data products by bridging the gap between business needs and technical implementation, ensuring data products meet organizational requirements while adhering to Target State data architecture and data governance standards
Accountabilities include:
- Successful implementation and governance of data products.
- Elicit, analyze, and document business requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria for data products.
- Work with data analysts to translate business requirements into clear technical specifications for data engineers and data QA.
- Work with stakeholders to define and prioritise user stories based on business impact and technical feasibility, ensuring they are clear, concise, and actionable for the development team.
- Understand data products alignment with business objectives and user needs while considering technical feasibility and data governance requirements
- Work with data solution architects to design data models that balance performance with usability and alignment with Target state data architecture
- Work with data stewards to review and approve data quality checks and thresholds to ensure the accuracy and reliability of data.
- Participating in technical design reviews to ensure solutions meet business requirements
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in data architecture, modelling, platform, analytical and reporting technologies, tools, and techniques.
- Identify opportunities to leverage emerging trends and drive innovation within AU.
- Foster a culture of experimentation and continuous improvement.
About You:
To be successful in the role you will have proven technical expertise in ETL Pipelines, Cloud Platforms and Big Data tools, as well as a passion for building data-driven solutions, including system integrations and an innovative approach to drive the successful adoption and optimization of data solutions across the group.
You will also be able to demonstrate the following capabilities / experience:
- Strong knowledge of advanced analytics techniques such as prescriptive and predictive analytics, data mining, cohort/cluster analysis, neural networks, natural language processing and deep learning techniques
- Demonstrated experience of data concepts, including data warehousing, data modeling, data integration, data visualisation and cloud platforms.
- Proven understanding of data management, data governance and data privacy principles where they are applicable to data architecture and data models.
- Previous experience successfully delivering analytical solutions into production, partnering with Data Operations and Engineering teams.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex analytical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
