Your New Role:
The Data Architect is accountable for the architecture and governance of enterprise data solutions through co-ordinating the movement, enhancement, integration, quality and availability of data throughout the enterprise. The Data Architect plays a critical role supporting the enterprise data architecture roadmap by managing architectural runway for Australian Unity’s enterprise data model, enterprise data store/warehouse, information management, and advanced data analytics capabilities.
The role will provide data architecture thought leadership to cross-functional teams in the areas of advanced data techniques, including data modelling, data access, data integration, data visualization, data discovery, statistical methods, database design and implementation. Additionally, the Data Architect will work with a range of senior stakeholders across the business and technology to guide the organization toward a defined future state with sustainable data management technology capabilities and practices.
Key responsibilities of the role include, however are not limited to:
- Create strategic Target State Architecture for Enterprise data and associated roadmap to remove legacy and deliver on strategic assets.
- Lead analysis, architecture, design, and development of cloud data warehouse and business intelligence solutions.
- Support data modeler and engineers in building and managing conceptual, logical and physical models of data architecture.
- Build high priority prototypes in a cloud platform and demonstrate value and feasibility of the solutions and architecture.
- Deliver outcomes partnering with the wider architecture community governed through the Design Architecture Council.
- Consider monetization opportunities based on ability of Australian Unity data assets to meet commercial requirements of government and non -compete industries.
- Define & own the data design principles for consistency and broader adoption.
- Help evolve Data Governance team by maturing the Master Data management and other capabilities through robust and enduring solution designs with an Enterprise view.
- Be involved in all project phases and own data architecture initiatives.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in data architecture, modelling, platform, analytical and reporting technologies, tools, and techniques.
- Identify opportunities to leverage emerging trends and drive innovation within AU.
About You:
- 10+ years of experience in Data management including but not limited to data architecture, data engineering, data modelling, data warehousing, data governance, and business intelligence.
- Demonstrated responsibility for designing and implementing Cloud Data strategies, including designing multi-phased implementation roadmaps.
- Be versed in Cloud solutions (Amazon Web Services, Databricks, Microsoft, Azure, Snowflake cloud) or Big Data solutions and related technologies.
- Expertise in data architecture concepts such as data modelling, workflow management, ETL/ELT, real-time streaming).
- Understanding data management and governance concepts such as data quality, metadata, master and reference data management, etc.
- Experience in designing data engineering solutions using open source and proprietary cloud data pipeline tools.
- Hands-on project experience with scripting/programming languages and supporting tools such as Python, Java, Scala, Bash.
- Experience with code management tools (e.g. Git, SVN) and DevOps tools (e.g. Ansible, Terraform, Bamboo, Jenkins) will be an added bonus.
- Analytical approach to problem-solving; ability to use technology to solve business problems.
- Experience with data mining techniques and working with data-intensive applications.
- Proven experience communicating value proposition of technical initiatives to non-technical executive stakeholders.
