Your New Role Looks Like This:
Reporting to the Commercial Finance Manager, the Commercial Business Partner provides financial, compliance and commercial support to the Commercial Finance team across the Wealth & Capital Markets platform.
You’ll own day-to-day bank account administration, RG166 evidence preparation, cash flow monitoring, funding requests and related compliance activities - ensuring processes are robust, well documented and aligned with regulatory and governance requirements.
You’ll also support the Commercial Finance Manager with performance reporting, budgeting and forecasting support, board and committee papers, data preparation and ad hoc analysis—enabling the broader team to focus on value-adding insights, strategic decision making and business partnering. As part of the platform finance and commercial team, you may also support broader initiatives and projects across W&CM as required.
Key Accountabilities Include:
- Assisting in the preparation of high-quality monthly performance reporting packs that articulate key drivers, variances and trends, with risks and opportunities to outlook and clear commentary for senior stakeholders
- Ensuring reporting is accurate, timely and aligned with Group Finance requirements
- Supporting decision making through financial analysis, insights and scenario/sensitivity analysis where required
- Providing ad hoc analysis to support funding, performance or strategic initiatives
- Supporting annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting cycles through data collection/validation, robust assumptions and clear packs with narrative, risks and opportunities
- Owning and coordinating bank account administration (openings, closures, amendments and online banking access)
- Assisting with RG166 documentation, reconciliations and financial resource calculations under guidance from senior finance staff
- Ensuring compliance documentation is complete, accurate and audit-ready
- Monitoring cash flows for assigned entities and funds and supporting funding requests and related analysis
- Liaising with Group Finance and Treasury to ensure accuracy and alignment of cash flow information
- Preparing Platypus Board and committee reporting, assembling financial insights and supporting analysis
- Uploading papers into governance systems, managing version control and ensuring timely distribution
- Identifying opportunities to improve reporting quality, timeliness, automation and documentation and contributing to stronger processes, controls and commercial storytelling
About You:
- 3–5 years’ experience in commercial finance, financial analysis or a similar role
- CA/CPA Qualified
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, with a proactive and detail-focused approach
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence producing clear packs and commentary
- Experience working in a regulated or governance-focused environment (preferred)
- Exposure to budgeting, forecasting and performance reporting
- Experience supporting Board or committee reporting (desirable)
- Strong process and control mindset, with disciplined documentation practices
- Advanced Excel skills and experience using financial systems
- Ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively with stakeholders
