As a social enterprise, we’re motivated by our purpose to positively impact the wellbeing of millions. We reinvest profits to deliver products and services sustainably that matter most to our members, customers and the Australian community.
For us, Real Wellbeing encompasses the whole experience of life. It’s about feeling supported in your health, connected with your community and empowered to live life on your terms.
About the Opportunity:
Australian Unity is growing its Company Secretary team, creating an exciting opportunity for a Board and Governance Analyst to join our Governance function on a part-time basis. You will join three existing team members and will work closely with the broader Company Secretary team, directors, executives and business stakeholders.
Reporting to the General Manager, Governance Compliance and Deputy Company Secretary, you will initially play an important role in refining and improving our governance structures, processes and documentation, including establishing board operating plans, coordinating director appointments and documentation, preparing induction materials, supporting regulatory notifications and contributing to the broader change management process. Your role will then transition into a broader mix of board and committee secretariat support, corporate entity management, regulatory compliance and governance reporting. A key focus will be improving the consistency and quality of board papers across the organisation by providing practical guidance, templates and training to stakeholders.
What you’ll do
- Support the enhancement and refinement of Australian Unity’s governance model, helping ensure the desired structures, processes and documentation are implemented.
- Coordinate director onboarding activities, including appointment documentation, deeds, regulatory notifications and induction materials.
- Assist with ASIC and APRA lodgements, maintain compliance calendars and monitor statutory and regulatory deadlines.
- Manage the end-to-end coordination of board and committee meetings, from preparing agendas and meeting packs through to maintaining action registers and producing accurate minutes.
- Improve the quality and consistency of board and committee papers by developing practical templates, writing guides and governance standards.
- Deliver training and provide hands-on guidance to help stakeholders prepare clear, concise and decision-focused board papers.
About You:
You’ll bring around two to five years of experience in a Company Secretary’s Office or similar corporate governance environment, ideally within a listed or complex organisation. You may have developed your career directly in company secretarial work or transitioned from executive support, legal, risk or compliance. With practical experience supporting boards or committees, you’ll be comfortable coordinating meeting papers, preparing agendas, tracking actions and producing accurate minutes. You’ll also have a working knowledge of company secretarial practices, ASIC requirements and the compliance obligations involved in supporting multiple legal entities. Exposure to an ASX or APRA-regulated environment would be valuable but is not essential.
Strong writing and editing skills will be key, along with the ability to turn complex information into clear, concise and decision-focused board papers. You’ll be confident guiding stakeholders and delivering practical training to improve the quality of board reporting. Naturally organised and attentive to detail, you’ll manage competing priorities and regulatory deadlines while handling sensitive information with discretion. A qualification in law, governance or business, or experience using Diligent Entities or Boardbooks, would be advantageous but is not essential.
